Not a per session key, a per machine key.

The way Teamviewer works is that it has a session key for each machine. Things may have changed but from my understanding it has not. So I dropped Teamviewer years and years ago. There is no good argument FOR Teamviewer. Still, we were able to figure it out and have been happy with it. Security is fairly top of mind for the developer, so expect that to be the case.ĭownside is that documentation on all of the settings isn't the best you'll have to dig around the developer's GitHub and blog to get a sense of what the options are. Local accounts can also be protected by MFA or use FIDO2 for authentication. That makes the entire thing internal only.Īlso, user accounts can be authenticated off of a central directory (in our case, we are using SAML auth to Azure AD). If outside access is a problem, you can configure it to be "LAN only" and rely on your VPN site-to-site tunnel infrastructure to handle the connectivity. Not only is it remote desktop, but it can also act as a remote relay, allowing you to SSH to network switches / routers / firewalls / etc. We also use this for management across our enterprise. At least give a temporary one-time access without having to wait the 2 days for people claiming personal use, since real people at the other end are being frustrated and impacted by this, and you just block them without any warning whatsoever.Another upvote for MeshCentral. My suggestion - let me use the TeamViewer for 10 minutes instead of 1 minute.

Instead, I'll waste all my time trying in vain to get it set up and having to dwell on how frustrating this TeamViewer experience is, as I try desperately to open the other software in 1 minute chunks of lag. Of course, I'll be back home soon, so this was probably worse than not having any access, because then I'd just accept it. Now I have to keep reminding myself to check every hour if I can use TeamViewer again for another minute, and maybe I'll be able to open up that other software one of these minutes, eventually, before TeamViewer closes again. The only option is to send a PDF signed signature with all my personal information (including home address - like are you planning to mail me something?) and wait 2 days. But TeamViewer today decided to close in <1 minute again, and keep doing that. All I want to do is start up the other software, but it isn't working today for some reason. I got so fed up and started using another software. In that case, suddenly without warning it cuts the session out after less than 1 minute, and then you have to wait an indeterminate amount of time (but more than 10 minutes) to retry, for just another minute.

TeamViewer works reliably until it doesn't.
